ACH Honors Trempealeau County Jail Staff for Courageous Actions That Prevented a Tragic Outcome
(Whitehall, Wisconsin) – Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc. (ACH) is delighted to announce Correctional Officer Berg as a 2026 recipient of the Heroic Intervention Award.
During his shift, Officer Berg responded to a report of a patient experiencing a serious allergic reaction. Acting quickly, he retrieved an EpiPen and called for EMS when symptoms suggested the reaction could be escalating. He administered the medication and coordinated support until the ambulance arrived. Thanks to Officer Berg’s calm response and quick action, the patient’s condition began to improve, and they were transported to the hospital for further evaluation and returned without incident.
The Heroic Intervention Award is given to any jail staff involved in a lifesaving situation that saves a life or potentially prevents a tragic outcome where Narcan and CPR were not administered.
"We are immensely proud to present this Heroic Intervention Award, which highlights the unwavering commitment correctional professionals display toward the persons in their care,” says Jessica Young, Esq., President & CEO of ACH. “Together, we continue to demonstrate that with the right intervention, better outcomes are possible."
The award was presented on February 26, 2026. To date in 2026, one Heroic Intervention Award has been presented.
