Nurse Timothy Presented DAISY Award for Exemplary Care and Heroic Action
(Franklin, Tennessee) – Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc. (ACH) is proud to present Nancy Timothy, RN, with a DAISY Award for extraordinary care and heroic action.
The DAISY Foundation’s DAISY Award recognizes nurses “for the super-human work they do for their patients and families [of the patients] every day.” While the DAISY Award is well-known in the hospital setting, ACH partnered in 2017 as the first and only correctional health care provider to present this award to its associates. When nurses are honored with the DAISY Award, they receive an award certificate, a DAISY pin, and the Healer’s Touch sculpture. They are also featured on the DAISY Foundation’s website.
Nurse Timothy’s nomination stated: “Nancy was en route to Franklin County, where she has been providing coverage for nursing hours. She came upon the scene of a recent accident where a semi-truck was on fire, and no first responders were on scene yet. She stopped to render aid and found a driver had exited his vehicle, but had been engulfed in flames trying to escape the area. Nancy assisted in providing emergency first aid, removing burned clothing, and pouring cold water over burned areas until emergency services were on scene and had taken over care and stabilization of the patient, and helped with initial documentation of events.”
Dr. William Dennis, MPH, Chief Medical Officer of Advanced Correctional Healthcare, said of Nancy’s recognition, “Nancy’s actions reflect the very best of ACH. Her courage, clinical skill, and instinct to help without hesitation show the heart and commitment that our associates bring to their work.”
