ACH Honors Traverse County Jail Staff for Decisive Action That Prevented a Tragic Outcome
(Wheaton, Minnesota) – Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc. (ACH) is delighted to announce Correctional Officer Skyora as a 2026 Heroic Intervention Award recipient.
In June 2026, Correctional Officer Skyora noticed a sudden change in the condition of a newly admitted individual during intake. Although the individual initially showed no obvious signs of distress, Correctional Officer Skyora remained alert and continued monitoring throughout the booking process. Upon learning that the individual was being treated for fentanyl withdrawal, he quickly reassessed the situation. Noticing that the individual was shaking uncontrollably and heavily perspiring, he immediately moved the individual to a medical observation cell and notified the provider for evaluation. Correctional Officer Skyora’s vigilance and quick action helped ensure the individual received timely care during a rapidly evolving crisis.
The Heroic Intervention Award is presented to any jail staff involved in a lifesaving situation that saves a life or potentially prevents a tragic outcome where Narcan and CPR were not administered.
