Norman R. Johnson, MD, FACP, ABAM, CCHP

CEO

Norman R. Johnson, MD, FACP, ABAM, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc. (ACH) has over 30 years’ experience in direct healthcare management. Dr. Johnson is board certified in two specialties, internal medicine and addiction medicine (ABAM). He is a member of the Academy of Correctional Health Professionals and Society of Correctional Physicians, is a frequent trainer at the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC), and is an NCCHC Certified Correctional Health Professional. In November 2016, Dr. Johnson was recognized as a fellow with the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Johnson possesses extensive experience in the correctional healthcare environment, including facility analysis, program development, professional staffing, and contract negotiation. He is actively involved with client relations and provides educational programs for national, state, and county associations. As CEO, Dr. Johnson draws from his managed healthcare experience to position ACH as an industry leader that provides the highest standards in correctional healthcare.

Mrs. Brenda J. Johnson, Vice CEO of Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc. (ACH) was raised in a small farming town in Northwestern Illinois.  The Peoria area has been her home since 1975.  For sixteen years Mrs. Johnson owned and operated one of Central Illinois’ most renowned jewelry and gift establishments, Johnson Fine Jewelry, Bridal, and Gifts in Peoria.

Together with her husband in 2002, Mrs. Johnson founded Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc. (ACH).  The combination of Dr. and Mrs. Johnson’s business expertise, common sense, and strong work ethic are the driving force behind ACH’s unprecedented success in the correctional healthcare industry reaching the Inc. 5000 award three times and receiving Fortune’s Great Place to Work® Certification in July of 2017.

As leaders of ACH and generous philanthropists, the Johnsons are pleased to be able to take care of the underserved in the correctional setting and the underprivileged in their community.

Sherri Miller, RN

Sherri Miller, RN, President and Chief Operations Officer, has over 25 years of experience in healthcare management.  Her extensive background as a registered nurse includes hiring, training, scheduling employees, nursing-based programs, quality assurance, risk management, conducting surveys, developing plans of correction, and dispute resolution. Sherri is actively involved with client relations and uses her background in healthcare management to provide a higher standard in correctional healthcare.

Michael Mitcheff, DO, MBA, CCHP

Corporate Medical Director

Michael Mitcheff, DO, MBA, CCHP, Corporate Medical Director, has nearly 20 years of experience taking care of incarcerated people housed in juvenile, county, or prison facilities. In his role as Corporate Medical Director, Dr. Mitcheff hires, trains, and supervises over 85 practitioners treating more than 33,000 patients in excess of 300 correctional facilities across 17 states.

Before coming to ACH, Dr. Mitcheff served as the Chief Medical Officer of the Indiana Department of Corrections. In that role, he assisted correctional facilities with the Request for Proposal and bidding process. Dr. Mitcheff has performed hundreds of case reviews for medical/legal issues and serves as an expert witness in matters involving correctional healthcare, medical malpractice, and civil rights violations.

During Dr. Mitcheff’s tenure with Corizon, all of his correctional facilities became certified by the American Correctional Association, earning the Golden Eagle Award, which represents the highest commitment to excellence in correctional operations and the dedication of his team to enhancing public safety and the well-being of incarcerated people.

Jaime Oehlwein, Controller, holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Financial Accounting from Illinois State University.  She has more than 16 years of accounting, finance, and general business management experience. Jaime has been a senior financial leader for over 10 years and has expertise in domestic and international operations as well as mergers and acquisitions. Jaime’s strategic planning and analytical background give her the expertise to lead the accounting, payroll, and claims departments for ACH.

Vice President of Compliance

Deborah Ash, RN, MSN, MBA, LNC, CCHP, Vice President of Compliance, offers over 30 years of experience in nursing management. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau’s International Nursing Honor’s Society. At ACH, Debbie has become a nationally recognized speaker on topics including professional boundaries in correctional nursing. Her strong understanding of ICE, ACA, NCCHC, USMS, state, DOC agencies, PREA, and OSHA standards allow her to assist clients in navigating the complex regulatory landscape of correctional healthcare.

Neil’s executive background in implementing strategic imperatives, reaching targeted financial and sales goals, and providing oversight for new product introduction provides him with the expertise to manage financial areas for ACH.

Vice President of Contract Initiation

Karen Stocke, LPN, CCHP, Vice President of Contract Initiation, is the lead member of our correctional in-service training team for new client program implementation. Karen has been in nursing for over 40 years and is a Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP) through the NCCHC and is a member of the Academy of Correctional Health Professionals. She also presents at educational and training seminars on both the state and national level. She regularly collaborates with Ombudsman and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and has extensive experience in adolescent and adult medicine.
